Another and ugly side of the money that is now associated with the game has been the rise of the betting syndicate in cricket, abetted by the sophisticated technology that is now available. While illegal gambling over cricket and match fixing could be traced easily in its early days, the advent of satellite phone technology has brought in the shadowy bookie that is part of an amorphous syndicate, shoes tentacles were spread across the world more so in smaller centers. The spread of betting, a fact known but referred to only in hushed tones, means that notion of fixing have changes as well.
